The Federal Clean Water Act and supporting federal regulations require states to submit a list of impaired waters requiring the development of a Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL), every two years. Waters that do not meet applicable water quality standards and do not support applicable best uses, thereby requiring the development of a TMDL, are published along with the identified pollutant(s) as the Section 303(d) List of Impaired Waters.
On December 29, 2021, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) announced the availability of the Draft 2020-2022 Clean Water Act Section 303(d) List of Impaired/TMDL Waters for public comment.
The public comment period closes on January 28, 2022.
