NY ROUND-UP September 18


Here is the round up of water events and impacts in the state as of Monday morning:

High flows and Flood
High surf and rip current warnings issued by National Weather Service for Friday through Saturday night have ended for Suffolk and Nassau counties as Hurricane Lee has passed by and made landfall in Atlantic Canada over the weekend. USGS streamflow gages in Long Island did not record any flooding however flooding was reported at Jones Beach and Shinnecock Inlet and Quogue in Suffolk County on Long Island.

St Lawrence River watershed BWA issued for parts of Ogdensburg in St Lawrence County on Sep 11 has been rescinded

HABs update from NYDEC HABs Notifications Center
167 active blooms are confirmed in the state as of Monday with Lake Tiorati bloom coming off the active list. There are no new bloom reports as of yet from over the weekend. More to follow as reports come in .

Hazardous Spills
    Genesee River watershed - NW
    • 24000 gallons of potash reported spilled from an over turned tractor trailer on the intersection of NY 237 and NY-5 in Stafford - Genesee
