378 gallons of dielectric fluid spilled in Atlantic Long Island Sound Watershed

The latest spill reports from NYDEC occurred on Monday, July 22. 24 spills were reported on this day.

Atlantic Long Island Watershed: An unknown amount of unknown material was reported to be spilled from a vehicle along Roahook Rd in Cortland Manor, Westchester County. Hudson River impacted. 378 gallons of dielectric fluid was discharged due to a feeder leak after an equipment malfunction along E 23rd St and 1st Ave in Manhattan, New York.

Upper Hudson Watershed: An unknown amount of petroleum was spilled from a vessel into Piseco Lake due to equipment failure on Outlet Rd in Piseco, Hamilton County.

Earlier this week

Atlantic Long Island Watershed: An unknown material has been spilled into a stream on the 500 block of Grand St in Goshen, Ulster County. Another spill noted on this day which consisted of gasoline, motor oil and auto waste fluids to be spilled at a private residence on Myrna Lane in Staten Island, Richmond County.
Lake Champlain Watershed: An unknown material was released at Million Dollar Beach due to a malfunction on Beach Rd in Lake George, Warren County. The amount that was released is unreported.
Upper Hudson Watershed: Unreported amounts of gasoline have been released from a vessel into Great Sacandaga Lake during a storm which took place off South Shore Rd in Edinburgh, Saratoga County.

DEC receives upward of sixteen thousand spill reports each year; each report is investigated by qualified personnel.  Report files are closed when it is determined the spill is contained and under the control of the spiller or state authorities and a clean up plan is in place or completed.
