Lake effect snow showers for the west, weather spotters activated

Occasional lake effect snow showers expected through this morning.
Roads may become snow covered and slippery at times. Use caution and
plan some extra time to reach your destination safely.

Streamflow Situation from the network of USGS river monitors in NY
Fair and 27 degrees in NYC with a high near 33, the wind chill taking that down to between 15 and 20 degrees. Binghamton reports light snow and 17, the high 25. A 60% chance of snow showers is likely, mainly before noon, up to an inch of snow accumulation possible. Overcast and 17 degrees at Massena International - Richards Field, the high 19.
Streamflows continue to drop below seasonal normal, an increasing number of stations recording flows below the 25th percentile in the west, an increasing number of stations are rated much below normal in the lower central and south drainage basins. The northeast drainage basin sends water up to the St. Lawrence River and on to the Atlantic Ocean. Rivers and creeks in the northeast basin continue at seasonal normal values. The moderate drought in Putnam and north Westchester counties has escalated to severe drought, an area of the Niagara River - Lake Erie basin through Erie County is rated below normal. There are no active floods, nor extreme high or low flows observed.
Safe Drinking Water Advisories
Broome County: Endicott Municipal Waterworks issued a BWA for all customers after a water main break on Taft Rd late Saturday night. The BWA applied to water customers on O’Day Drive, Taft Avenue from O’Day Drive to Twist Run Road, Twist Run Road from Taft Avenue to Farm to Market Road, Hillside Terrace from Twist Run Road to Chrysler Road, including all streets connected to a section of Hillside Terrace, Chrysler Road, Farm to Market Road from Chrysler to the north end of the water main, and Sally Pipper Road from Farm To Market Road to Cummings Road. Endicott Municipal Waterworks serves 45 thousand residential customers along with commercial connections, from a groundwater source in Susquehanna River watershed.
