Drought creeps back on Genesee River, Niagara watershed

Drinking Water Advisories
Champlain has issued a BWA for customers on 30 to 70 Church St., 1 Transborder Dr. and 179 to 194 South St. until further notice. The advisory was issued Wednesday, December 13.
Floods and streamflow update from USGS WaterWatch
Streamflows in central, northeast and southeast NYS continue to run normal to much above normal while flows in the west run normal to low in the Genesee River and Niagara River watersheds. As of Thursday afternoon, Oatka Creek is no longer rated low. The tributary of Genesee River has gone from 1.67 percentile to 3.71 percentile, rated much below normal, currently running 3.37 feet and double the volume we saw this morning.

As of Thursday afternoon the surface area rated below normal has not changed since morning. Genesee River watershed is rated below normal from the south NY state line to the Lake Ontario outlet. The west edge of Chautauqua County in Niagara River - Lake Erie watershed is also rated below normal.
Hazardous Spills the latest reports released from NY DEC as reported to the NY Emergency Spill Hotline 1-800-457-7362
The latest incident reports available Thursday afternoon are from calls taken over the weekend.
Two separate spills were reported over the weekend from Cumberland Farms gas stations. County Rd 111 Cumberland Farms location at Manorville in Suffolk County reported a spill of unknown amount of diesel with cause listed as "other". The Round Swamp Road Cumberland Farms station in Plainview, Nassau County reported a spill of unknown amount of gasoline. The cause of this spill is also listed as "other".
WTNY reports all hazardous materials spills impacting water, petroleum spills of more than a barrel and regulated toxic materials spills of any amount.
