Floods and streamflow update from USGS WaterWatch
Lake Champlain continues to flood north of Whitehall and Port Henry recorded at several inches above flood stage. Schroon River continues to run above flood stage at Riverbank.

Ouleout Creek and Mongaup River are still flowing in the 99th percentile or higher. See the map black tags for flood and blue tags for high flows.

Niagara River - Lake Erie watershed central area in Erie County is off the drought map Friday, leaving north and south borders of Erie County to Lake Erie. Lake Ontario minor tributaries west section and the entire Genesee River watershed remain below normal.

Hazardous Spills the latest reports released from NY DEC as reported to the NY Emergency Spill Hotline 1-800-457-7362
The latest incident reports available Friday afternoon are spills that occurred on Monday, Dec 18.

An unknown amount of hydrochloric acid was spilled from an institution on Gull Bay Rd in Putnam Station Monday. The cause of the spill is unknown. No impact to water is stated, though the spill location tag puts this very close to Gull Bay on Lake George. According to the NY open data source, none of the material was recovered at the scene.

HABs update from NY DEC HABs Notifications Center
From the NY DEC summary report for 2023, the top three lakes on the HABs list are all in the Finger Lakes region. Top spot is claimed by Cayuga Lake with 89 confirmed blooms, followed by Canadaigua Lake with 83 reports, and Owasco Lake with 72 confirmed HABs over the course of the 2023 monitoring effort.

Notable is Hyde Lake in Jefferson County with 69 reports, and Orange County's Beaver Dam Lake in the Lower Hudson River watershed having archived 60 HAB reports during this year.

Drinking Water Advisories
Schaghticoke Water BWA remains in effect for connections in Pleasantdale following repairs to a leaking water main valve.

Fonda and Mohawk water customers remain under a precautionary BWA until further notice.
