Drought lifts off Genesee River watershed

Lake Champlain is overflowing at Port Henry again Friday afternoon after a brief reprieve. Continued flows much above normal in the Lake Champlain watershed are sending more volume than the basin can discharge out the top end, the overflow backing up into Port Henry.
Above normal streamflows continue state wide Friday afternoon. Niagara River - Lake Erie, Genesee, Oswego-Finger Lakes watersheds continue to send normal to much above normal volumes to the Great Lakes. Allegheny River watershed is sending a seasonal normal amount of flow into the Ohio, eventually Mississippi and Gulf of Mexico this afternoon. Chemung, Susquehanna, Delaware and Ramapo Rivers are sending above normal to high flows to the Atlantic via New Jersey. Northeast drainage sending loads of water to the St Lawrence River, and the central drainage area is loading much above normal flows into Long Island Sound.
Croton River and Ramapo River maintain the 99th percentile flow level into late afternoon Friday with Wallkill River dropping down to above normal flow at Gardiner.
As of this update, there are no below normal flows in the state. Check blue tags on the map for updated 99th percentile flows with volume and river depths, black tags for flood details.

Drinking Water Advisories
Village of Massena has issued a BWA following a water main break at the George St river crossing Wednesday. All customers connecting to Village of Massena water are required to boil water intended for consumption until further notice.
