FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY EVENING THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

A strong storm system will impact the area Tuesday night into Wednesday with the likelihood of heavy rainfall. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches with localized higher amounts are possible during this time. There will be potential for widespread flooding, including flash flooding with nearly saturated grounds going into Tuesday night, allowing for excessive runoff.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Drinking Water Advisories
Village of Hancock has issued a system-wide BWA following a water main break Saturday. According to the Hancock Village Clerk, the water main broke on Park Street.

Streamflow Situation from USGS WaterWatch
Lake Champlain watershed flows are above normal Monday morning, no flooding registering on Lake Champlain as of this update, Port Henry is 6 inches below flood stage.

All three USGS monitoring stations on the Raquette River in St Lawrence County remain much above seasonal normal flow, 94th percentile and higher values registering from the top end near Piercefield, at South Colton aka Three Falls and the outlet end of the system at Raymondville. Raquette River drains an area of 1125 square miles in St Lawrence County. As of Monday morning, St Lawrence River flows are above normal, Oswegatchie River is flowing above seasonal normal.

Hazardous Spills the latest reports released from NY DEC as reported to the NY Emergency Spill Hotline 1-800-457-7362 The first spill incidents of 2024 will be available today, check back for updates. More to follow.

A spill reported occuring by way of a deliberate act on Dec 29 has impacted a tributary of the Lower Hudson River. According to the NY DEC report, an uknown amount of floor stripper was deliberately discharged off Brookside Ave in Chester, reaching Black Meadow Creek in Orange County.
