Coastal flooding underway

Water news for Saturday, January 13, 2024 - last updated 703 Pm EST


Streamflow Situation from USGS WaterWatch
Coastal flooding is occurring at West Sayville, still running four inches over flood stage and receding.

Streamflows are above normal to high statewide Saturday evening with an waterways registering 99th percentile flows in the Lower Hudson River watershed. Hudson River is no longer flooding at Poughkeepsie or Piermont. Esopus Creek and Rondout Creek got close to action stage, peaked and started to decline without flooding.

No extreme low flows are showing up this morning.

Drought Map USGS 7-day average streamflow against seasonal average
Lower Genesee River watershed has cleared off the drought map, no part of the state is rated below normal.

Drinking Water Advisories
The Village of Remsen in Oneida County has issued a BWA for some customers following detection of a water main leak on Prospect Road Thursday. The advisory is expected to remain in effect today and through the weekend, until early next week.
