Plattsburgh water main breaks lead to BWAs

Impacting Southern Westchester-New York (Manhattan)-Bronx-Richmond (Staten Island)-Kings (Brooklyn)-Northern Queens-Southern Queens-Counties

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM TO 7 PM EST FRIDAY...Total snow accumulations of 2 to 3 inches expected in portions of southeast New York and northeast New Jersey. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions will likely impact the Friday evening commute. Slow down and use caution while traveling.

Check local Department of Transportation information services for the latest road conditions.


Streamflow Situation from USGS WaterWatch

Streamflows headed for NYC remain much above the seasonal normal Thursday. St Lawrence and Lake Champlain watersheds show an even mix of above normal and much above normal flow volumes and the west state has returned to mostly seasonal normal flows on both sides of the state divide.

Mongaup River falls below 99th percentile for the first time this week, not much of a change, still flowing at 98th percentile near Mongaup Thursday. Genesee River watershed has picked up a second below normal reading, these two are the only below normal ratings in NYS monitoring network Thursday. No extreme low flows appear today.

Drinking Water Advisories
City of Plattsburgh Public Works department confirms two separate water main breaks this week, one on Boynton Avenue and another on Margaret Street caused interruption of water service and boil water orders for impacted customers. Addresses 81 - 106 Boynton Avenue and addresses 290 - 312 & 325 Margaret Street are currently under the boil order, until further notice.
