Streamflow Situation from USGS WaterWatch

About a month later into the winter season than observed over the last three years, ice is impacting the flow and sensors on St Regis, Little Chazy, Great Chazy and Richelieu Rivers. Oswegatchie River, Grass River and Little Salmon River are recording ice impact with the Raquette River flow still recording much above normal volume at the outlet.

East Canada Creek monitor at East Creek is signalling an extreme low value Saturday morning, a sudden departure from the rest of this week where the Mohawk River and tributaries have been frecording above seasonal normal to much above normal flows. Presume here the East Canada Creek monitor may be ice impacted and sending erroneous signals, more to follow.

Lower Hudson River and tributaries slowed down overnight, more common is the above normal rating with four stations recording much above normal Saturday. Long Island creeks and streams are uniformly rated normal Saturday. To the west, light snow is expected today, the streams are flowing normal to above normal with two monitors indicating below normal in Genesee River watershed, as has been the case through this week. Southwest state monitors remain normal, shifting to much above normal on the Atlantic side of the state divide, Delaware and Ramapo River watersheds still show much above normal flows.

No extreme high flows or flooding is recorded on NYS flow monitors today.

Refer to USGS Provisional Data Statement at the end of this update.
