Lake Effect Snow Bands Continue to Affect Central New York... At 9 AM, radar and other observations indicated lake effect snow bands were intensifying, especially downwind of the Finger Lakes. This will lead to slippery roads and visibility under a mile. Brief periods of lower visibility are possible as winds gust to around 20 mph. This is expected to last for another hour or two, after which the snow bands are still expected to diminish in intensity.

Streamflow Situation from USGS WaterWatch

About a month later into the winter season than observed over the last three years, ice is documented impacting flow and sensors in the Lake Champlain watershed Little Chazy, Great Chazy and Richelieu Rivers. Oswegatchie River, St Regis River, Grass River and Little Salmon River are recording ice impact in St Lawrence River watershed with the Raquette River flow still recording much above normal volume at the outlet.

East Canada Creek monitor at East Creek is up to a much below normal level Sunday morning, no longer flowing at an extreme low as observed yesterday. It does appear that the sensors at East Creek are working. There are two stations recording much below normal Sunday and a handful below normal in the Genesee River watershed. Flows in the southeast remain much above normal. Long Island creeks are mostly normal with one station much above normal.

No extreme high flows or flooding are recorded on NYS flow monitors, no extreme low flows in NYS Sunday.

Refer to USGS Provisional Data Statement at the end of this update.
