Streamflow Situation from USGS WaterWatch
Streamflows slowed again overnight tending toward seasonal normal values statewide. Northeast state flow monitors indicate normal, smaller volume rivers are ice impacted in the northeast. Lake Ontario minor tributaries remain ice affected Wednesday with largely normal flows recorded on the major rivers of the interior, a collection of below normal and one much below normal reading in the Lower Genesee. Southward flows are normal in the west increasing into the Delaware River watershed, much above normal. Light rain still falling in the city this morning, all monitors on Long Island streams are recording seasonal normal values.
Melting ongoing, watch for river ice break up, take extreme care around the rivers and streams as ice surfaces may not be reliable.
No active flooding recorded on NYS flow monitors Wednesday, no extreme high or extreme low flows. Chadokoin River was registering 1 percentile flow at Falconer yesterday afternoon, back to normal Wednesday.
Drought Map USGS 7-day average streamflow against seasonal average
No part of the state is rated below normal or any degree of drought.
