Water news for Thursday, February 1, 2024 - last updated 620 pm EST

Drinking Water Matters
Watervliet City WTP has issued a precautionary BWA following a water main break and repair at the Arsenal yesterday. City water plant officials are warning residents of dirty water or low water pressure following the water main break. The BWA is required as a precautionary measure until further notice. More to follow.

Streamflow Situation from USGS WaterWatch
Streamflows took off upward overnight with ratings above 90th percentile taking over the NYS current streamflow map. The highest flow ratings are found in the Delaware River watershed this morning. Stations on the west and east branches Delaware River have peaked and are receding in flow volume, still running at 98th percentile this morning. Long Island Valley Stream is much above seasonal normal with all other stations recording normal flows.

As of this update, there is no active flooding at NYS monitored USGS stations. There are no extreme high (99th percentile) ratings, nor any extreme low (1 percentile) flows to be tagged on the map.

Current streamflows on Long Island are in the range of seasonal normal with no extremes to report.
