National Weather Service Urgent Winter Weather Message issued 636 am Thursday Feb 29
LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST THIS EVENING...Heavy lake effect snow and blowing snow. Additional snow accumulations of 6 to 15 inches along and north of the NY State Thruway. Additional snow amounts of 2 to 5 inches south of the NY State Thruway. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph
Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning and evening commute. Snowfall rates around 2 inches per hour are expected this morning along and north of Interstate 90 in Onondaga county, and crossing Intestate 90 in Madison county. Total snowfall amounts will decrease rapidly from downtown Syracuse and points further south.
