The latest spill reports from NYDEC occurred on Thursday, Feb 29. There are 59 spill incidents recorded on this date. 47 Spills are petroleum based, 12 spills are toxic and 2 spills have impacted water.
Unknown amount of mercury reported spilled off Cyprus Loop in Staten Island
1200 gallons of jet fuel reported spilled on East Ave in Lawrence
Unknown amount of antifreeze, diesel and urea spilled from a traffic accident off Ferndale Loomis and Ferndale Rd in Ferndale - Middle Monguap River impacted
Unknown amount of waste sludge reported spilled deliberately off Spring St in Madrid - St Lawrence - Tributary of Grass River impacted

DEC receives upward of sixteen thousand spill reports each year; each report is investigated by qualified personnel. Report files are closed when it is determined the spill is contained and under the control of the spiller or state authorities and a clean up plan is in place or completed.
