NWS: Snow squalls for Ohio
25 floodings in Georgia, 5 in LA

Water news for Sunday, March 10, 2024 updated 823 pm EDT

National Weather Service Hazardous Weather Outlook, Flood and Wind Advisories for March 10

New York: Coastal Flood Advisory issued 412 am Sunday
USGS monitored sites recorded 10 stations experiencing flooding at one time on Sunday. All flooding at these sites has ceased as of 828 pm.

Hudson River ran over flood stage at Poughkeepsie and Piermont during the day Sunday. Hackensack River ran over flood stage at two locations in New Jersey, West Branch Delaware River flooded at Walton, Bronx River was over flood stage at Botanical Gardens briefly. Coastal flooding included Great Kills, Jamaica Bay flooded at Inwood, Hudson Bay flooding at Newport, Shinnecock Bay was over flood stage at Ponquogue, Great South Bay flooding at Fire Island and Lindenhurst.

Georgia: Hazardous Weather Outlook issued 446 am Sunday for north and central Georgia:

As of evening update, 25 stations are recording active flooding in Georgia, including Savannah River at Cylo, Chattachoochee River at Columbus and two sites south, Oconee River, Flint River, Ocmulgee and Altamaha, Ohoopee, Ogeechee, Canoochee Rivers and numerous streams still flooding.

NWS: Numerous rivers and creeks are in flood or forecast to reach flood over the next several days due to recent rains. Please use caution around flooded areas and do not drive through any flooded roadways.

A Wind Advisory is in effect today for mountains of northeast Georgia. Gusts of 35+ mph are possible. Sporadic power outages will be possible. A Freeze Warning is in effect tonight through tomorrow morning for portions of north and central Georgia. Please take precautions for any sensitive vegetation.


Ohio: Hazardous weather outlook issued 625 am Sunday for Lake Erie Counties including Lucas-Wood-Ottawa-Sandusky-Erie-Lorain-Hancock-Seneca-Huron-Wyandot-Crawford-Richland-Ashland-Wayne-Stark-Mahoning-Marion-Morrow-Holmes-Knox Counties

Snow squalls are possible today. These snow squalls may produce near- zero visibility and very poor travel conditions for brief periods of time.

Portage River overflowed at Woodville around 330 am Sunday. Flooding subsided around noon today, no stations recording flooding in Ohio as of this update.

Flooding in Louisiana
A fifth monitor has hit the active flood roster Sunday, Bogue Chitto breached flood stage around 614 pm this evening near Bush. SMS alerts have gone out to subscribers. Pearl River, Sabine River, Bayou Bodcau and Bayou Dorcheat continue to run over flood stage.

On the upside, the drought map for Louisiana has cleared considerably, leaving only Regions 4 and 5 in the southwest with moderate drought and below normal ratings, respectively.
