Hazardous Spills
The latest spill reports from NYDEC occurred on Thursday, March 7. There are 25 spill incidents recorded on this date. 22 Spills are petroleum based, 3 spills are toxic and 1 is impacting water.

Noted on this day is 5 gallons home heating oil spilled into Guilford Lake Runoff from a private residence in Guilford.
Unknown amount of activated sludge reported spilled from a military base in West Point.
200 gallons of kerosene spilled at a private residence in Ithaca

DEC receives upward of sixteen thousand spill reports each year; each report is investigated by qualified personnel.  Report files are closed when it is determined the spill is contained and under the control of the spiller or state authorities and a clean up plan is in place or completed.
