Flood Tracker provisional data from USGS streamflow monitors
One hundred and fifty nine streamflow gauges record flooding in the USA Friday night, up from one hundred and eighteen Thursday. WT tracks the nation's most common natural disaster dynamics through New York, Ohio, Georgia and Louisiana. As of this report we are watching 32 monitors indicating active flooding: 2 in New York, 12 in Georgia, 12 in Louisiana, 10 in Ohio.

New York State: Schoharie Creek was flooding at Gilboa Friday afternoon, Sacandaga River is flooding at Hope, East Branch Ausable River is flooding at Au Sable Forks.

Georgia, Day 37 of continuous flooding, from four to twelve active floodings monitored overnight, all in the south. Gulf of Mexico basin is back in the flood race Friday as Ochlockonee and Suwannee tributaries overrun their channels. Atlantic basin flows have picked up overnight as well, four stations in the Satilla watershed are flooding Friday, two in St Marys River watershed and one station of the Savannah River is still flooding near Cylo. An Ocmulgee River tributary is flooding in central Georgia Friday morning.

In Ohio, eight locations record above flood stage Friday. In the Lake Erie drainage basin, Black River is flooding at Elyria. For the Ohio River/Mississippi drainage basin, Muskingum River is still flooding near Coshocton, tributary Stillwater Creek flooding at Uhrichsville. Little Muskingum River is flooding near Bloomfield, along with tributary Duck Creek flooding below Whipple. Eagle Creek is flooding at Phalanx in the Mahoning River watershed, Shade River is flooding near Chester. Scioto River is flooding in the upper basin end at La Rue. Dozens of stations are recording flow levels above 99th percentile statewide, updates are in progress, more to follow.

Twelve stations record flooding in Louisiana after a powerful storm system swept across the south on its way to the Great Lakes and northwest. Little River is flooding near Rochelle in watershed Region 2, Sabine River is recording a flood near Ruliff, TX, still flooding upstream as we reported yesterday for Logansport and Bon Wier, TX. Bayou Dorcheat continues to flood near Springhill and downstream Minden, Bayou Bodcau floods on near Shreveport, Caddo Lake is flooding near Mooringsport. Bayou Anococo, Calcasieu River and Bayou des Cannes are still flooding in Region 4. Pearl River is flooding at the Town of Pearl River. Updates to the map are in progress. More to follow.

See black tags on the map for active flood, blue for high flow, 99th percentile or more.

As many NYS drinking water facilities are supplied from surface water reservoirs, the streamflow situation is pertinent to both drinking water supply and quality. High flows can stir up sediment and cause turbidity in the reservoirs, requiring additional treatments to render the water potable. Low flow volume is linked to warmer temperatures in the reservoir and can be an issue for water quality where HABs are present. WTNY.us tracks streamflow trends with an eye to the impacts on drinking water supply and quality in each of the state's 17 watersheds. Check the watershed layer on the map to see the direction of flow and streamflows that may be impacting drinking water today.
