Hazardous spills reported this week in NYS
The latest spill reports from NYDEC occurred on Thursday, May 16. 21 spills were reported on this date. Important to note for this day are as follows: An unknown amount of manure was reported to have spilled into Oneida Creek following an incident at a private residence on Sconodoa Rd in Oneida, Madison. An unknown amount of raw sewage was reported spilled on the roadway in the Bronx. An unknown amount of fertilizer was reported spilled from True Green Fertilizer due to equipment failure in Rochester, Monroe. 50 gallons of hydraulic oil was reported spilled from Last Chance Recycling due to equipment failure in Dewitt, Onondaga. 220 gallons of home heating oil was reported spilled at a private residence due to equipment failure in Levittown, Nassau. An unknown amount of sanitary sewage was reported spilled due to equipment failure at an industrial facility in Oswego - Tributary 63 impacted. Finally, 1375 gallons of waste oil was spilled from abandoned drums in the Bronx.

DEC receives upward of sixteen thousand spill reports each year; each report is investigated by qualified personnel. Report files are closed when it is determined the spill is contained and under the control of the spiller or state authorities and a clean up plan is in place or completed.
