Raw sewage spill in the Atlantic Long Island Sound Watershed

The latest spill reports from NYDEC occurred on Sunday, June 23. So far only one spill has been reported on this day.
Atlantic Long Island Sound Watershed: This previous Sunday and unreported amount of raw sewage was discharged in the area of East 103rd St in Brooklyn, Kings County.
Previously this week on June 22, three spills were reported that impacted a body of water. An unspecified amount amount of petroleum was released into a Canal off Garfield St in Freeport, Nassau County. An unknown liquid in unreported amounts was discharged into Hudson River Pier 96 on 12th Ave in Manhattan, New York. A traffic accident that occured on the I-88 East resulted in motor oil being released in Schoharie. An unnamed stream was impacted.

DEC receives upward of sixteen thousand spill reports each year; each report is investigated by qualified personnel. Report files are closed when it is determined the spill is contained and under the control of the spiller or state authorities and a clean up plan is in place or completed.
