Blind Brook impacted by 3000 gallons of raw sewage in the Atlantic Long Island Sound River Watershed

The latest spill reports from NYDEC occurred on Monday, July 1. 17 spills were reported on this day.
Chemung River Watershed: 80 gallons of hydraulic oil was released from a Kennedy Valve Facility due to equipment failure on East Water St in Elmira, Chemung County.
Atlantic Long Island Watershed: On July 1, two spills impacted water in the Atlantic Watershed. An unreported amount of home heating oil was released north of Sylvan Rd in North Babylon, Suffolk County. Carlls river has been impacted. Unreported amount of petroleum was released into Bay end Marina off East 68th St in Brooklyn, Kings County. 200 gallons of home heating oil has been discharged due to equipment failure at a private residence on Green Ln in Levittown, Nassau County. 150 gallons of home heating oil has been reported spilled from a private residence due to equipment failure on Betsy Ross Dr in Bohemia, Suffolk County.
Earlier this week on July 27
Mohawk River Watershed: An unreported amount of an unknown material has been released at a private residential home on the 200 block of Rural Groves Rd in Sprakers, Mongtomery County. This spill has reached Yatesville Creek. Another unreported amount of raw sewage has been discharged from the Gloversville Pump Station on Route 29 in Johnstown, Montgomery County.
Lake Champlain Watershed: Another spill of an unreported material has been released at a rail road on Broadway Ave in Whitehall City of Washington County.
Atlantic Long Island Watershed: 3000 gallons of raw sewage has been discharged due to a sewage blockage along Rye Ridge Plaza in Rye Brook , of Westchester County. This spill has impacted Blind Brook. Another record of a sewage spill has taken place at a private home due to a deliberate cause on Harrison Pl in Brooklyn, New York. East River has been reported to have had a spill of petroleum in unreported amounts from New Town Barge Park along Commercial St in Brooklyn, Kings County.

DEC receives upward of sixteen thousand spill reports each year; each report is investigated by qualified personnel. Report files are closed when it is determined the spill is contained and under the control of the spiller or state authorities and a clean up plan is in place or completed.
