WT HAB Tracker from the satellite monitoring program of the NOAA National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science(NCCOS), Cyanobacteria Assessment Network (CyAN) and State sources where available
New York
Two hundred and seventy-four HABs are confirmed active Sunday morning, up from 231 yesterday at this time. Drinking water reservoirs are becoming HAB active again as observed in September last season. Swinging Bridge Reservoir HAB is back, Alcove Reservoir and Basic Creek Reservoir each tagged with three confirmed HABs. A first HAB of the season was confirmed for Upper Chateaugay Lake in Clinton County. The majority of reports are in the Finger Lakes, additional blooms confirmed yesterday in Owasco and Skaneateles Lakes. The latest impacted water body list is available here.
The latest satellite image of Lake Champlain was captured September 14, this image is mostly clear, wind speed unknown. Baie Missisquoi HAB is back in view today laying up along the northeast shore with small localized HABs in open water on the US side of the border, again at 600 to 700 thousand cells per ml concentration. A new widespread HAB is visible in the channel between Isle la Motte and Alburg Dunes State Park on the Vermont side of Lake Champlain, 600 to 700 thousand cells per ml. Dispersed small open water HABs appear at moderate concentration 200 thousand cells per ml down south of St Albans Bay past Grand Isle and South Hero Island. St Albans Bay HAB appears localized along the north shore matching the concentration color scale for 700 thousand cells per ml, as observed in the prior image reported here yesterday. See the NCCOS color image of Lake Champlain here.

Streamflow Situation from the USGS network of streamflow gauges
Streamflows are dipping lower Sunday, a string of monitors running through the west and north interior from the Lake Erie shore to Lake Champlain, currently below to much below seasonal normal. The Hudson River basin is tilting below normal from the upper drainage area down through the lower channel, two sites recording below normal on Long Island. Moderate drought catches the north of Orange County Sunday next to Putnam and Westchester Counties, still on moderate drought footing. An area of Upper Hudson River has come on below normal, the Lake Ontario minor tributaries west watershed back on the drought map below normal today, impacting Niagara, Orleans and west Monroe Counties. As of this report, there are no extreme high or low flows recorded in the network.
