NWS: Coastal Flood Advisory in effect for Manhattan until 2 pm

COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 2 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON...
Up to one foot of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline in New York (Manhattan) County.
COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Minor flooding in the more vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Some roads and low lying properties including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience minor flooding.
Minor coastal flooding is possible during high tide Sunday afternoon.
If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.

Streamflow Situation from the USGS network of streamflow gauges in New York
A coastal flood advisory begins at 10 am Saturday. Yesterday the flooding began at Great Kills, progressing to the east end of Long Island Shinnecock at Ponquogue. Just as coastal flooding subsided over the noon hour, the Hudson River estuary flooded at Piermont, later in the afternoon flooding upstream at Poughkeepsie. As of the first report Saturday there are no active floods or high water recorded in the network. Check the map to the right for blue tags indicating 99th percentile flows and-or action stage and black tags for active flooding, updated as the day progresses. One extreme low flow is reported on Genesee River in Rochester this hour, 1st percentile record low for this date in the last 72 years.
The drought map has taken over the Black River watershed, this morning rated below normal in central Jefferson and Lewis Counties and north Herkimer County. Adjacent Upper Hudson River watershed remains below normal at Hamilton, Warren and Essex Counties. Lake Ontario minor tributaries west section in Niagara, Orleans and west Monroe Counties remains in moderate drought. Allegheny River watershed is below normal in west central Chautauqua County again today.

Back near the seasonal high HAB activity once again, 425 HABs active on the notifications board Saturday morning, up from 359 on Thursday. First HAB activity of the year is confirmed in Mecox Bay, Ellicott Creek, Walkill River and Avon Marsh Dam Pond are a few of the water bodies back on the active list. Reports continue to flow in from the Finger Lakes, Seneca Lake currently hosting 96 bluegreen blooms. The latest impacted water body list is available here.
The latest satellite image of Lake Champlain was captured September 20, a partially cloud obscured image with some open water visible. HABs are observed from Baie Missisquoi down past Alburg-Swanton bridge beyond North Hero Island to the channel between Grand Isle and St Albans Bay. All HABs appear as dispersed open water mats of moderate concentration around 300 thousand cells per ml.

Safe Drinking Water Advisories
Greene County: Village of Catskill encountered a water main break Thursday. A Boil Water Advisory has been issued for residents and businesses between the bottom of West Bridge Street to Abeel Drive until further notice.
