Material released near Flushing Creek in Atlantic Long Island Sound Watershed

Oswego Watershed: On September 26th, a traffic accident on the I-90 East caused a release of 400 gallons of diesel to spill onto the pavement in Phelps, Ontario County.
Atlantic Watershed: On September 25th, 45000 gallons of wastewater was released from a ground water plant on the 200 block of Clinton Rd in Garden City, Nassau County. Again on September 25th, an unreported material was released deliberately by Best Concrete near flushing creek in Flushing, Queens County.
Lake Champlain Watershed: On September 25th, unreported amounts of petroleum was released into Boquet River off Otis Lane in Elizabeth-town, Essex County.
Lake Ontario Watershed: On September 25th, an unreported amount of paint was released into Erie Canal off Ingersoll St Bridge in Albion, Orleans County.

DEC receives upward of sixteen thousand spill reports each year; each report is investigated by qualified personnel. Report files are closed when it is determined the spill is contained and under the control of the spiller or state authorities and a clean up plan is in place or completed.
