The Lake in Central Park HAB is back

Streamflow Situation from the monitoring network of USGS in New York
New York streamflows continue mostly normal statewide, with declining flow levels in the northwest Lake Ontario minor tributaries showing up with a record low for this date, below seasonal normal flow volumes taking over through the west including Niagara River - Lake Erie, Genesee River, Allegheny River watershed.

Extreme drought remains in Lake Ontario minor tributaries west section impacting Niagara, Orleans and west Monroe Counties. Niagara River Lake Erie watershed is still rated below normal in Erie County, the Lake Champlain watershed is rated below normal in north Washington, south Essex Counties. St Lawrence River watershed is no longer below normal. No hazardous weather in the forecast, no active flooding, extreme high flows, one extreme low recorded in the lower Genesee River watershed Tuesday.

Two hundred and sixteen HABs are active on the notifications board Tuesday morning, down from 262 Monday. The Lake in Central Park is back on the active impacted water body list. A batch of new reports was confirmed in Skaneateles Lake over the weekend, the Finger Lakes are still leading the state in bluegreen algae impact. Updates are in progress, the latest impacted water body list is available here.

The latest satellite image of Lake Champlain was captured September 30, this image east side is partially cloud obscured with no HAB activity recognized in the open water visible on the west side of the lake. The prior image Sept 29 shows Baie Missisquoi with open water HABs of a low concentration, 100 thousand cells per ml. A new area of HAB activity revealed in the channel between Point Au Roche and North Hero Island, low concentration 100 thousand cells per ml or less. Lake Carmi in Vermont presented lakewide HAB of high concentration, 900 thousand cells per ml.
