Delaware River tributaries rising rapidly, nearing flood stage

Streamflow Situation from the network of USGS monitoring sites in NYS
Rain has filled the streams and rivers of the sout and west watersheds over the last 24 hours, such that we now see two monitored tributaries of the Delaware River spiking sharply upward and heading for flood stage. Trout Creek is nearing action stage, the last data received an hour ago showed a sharp rise near the hamlet of Trout Creek. Flooding begins at 6.3 ft deep. Likewise, Platte Kill is running 99th percentile with a rapid rising trend, still a foot short of action stage and two feet off flood stage, this can change very quickly in flash flooding conditions. More to follow. See the blue tags on the map indicating 99th percentile high flows, black tags will be added as flood stage is breached. Flood alerts have gone out to subscribers within 25 miles of the high flow sites, sign up for alerts at the "Call Us" link on the top left of the page.

Safe Drinking Water Advisories
Chemung County: Millport Village Water Supply has issued a BWA after a leak dropped water level in the storage tank below the safe maintenance level. The BWA will remain until further notice. Millport Village Water Supply serves 292 people from a groundwater source in the Chemung River watershed. This watershed has been drought stressed for an extended period. Rains this week are refilling the surface water bodies, however the groundwater aquifers will take more time to recover.
