Over a foot of snow coming for north NYS
URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE issued by NWS Burlington VT 250 am Thurs Jan 2
WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST FRIDAY
Heavy snow with total snow accumulations of 4 to 14 inches in portions of northern New York and northeast and northwest
Vermont. Winds gusting as high as 40 to 50 mph. The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. Strong winds may also cause areas of blowing snow and reduce visibilities farther. Travel could be very difficult. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
The strongest winds are expected during the day Thursday. Snowfall amounts will be dependent on elevation with more snow
expected across higher terrain. Watch for rapidly changing road conditions if traveling in mountainous terrain.If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM EST THIS EVENING...
West winds around 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph, isolated gusts to 55 mph possible in portions of southern Connecticut, northeast New Jersey, and southeast New York.
IMPACTS...Strong winds will blow down scattered tree limbs. A few trees and power lines could be downed, with power outages
possible. Unsecured objects and decorations will be blown around and/or damaged.
Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
